Victoria’s Animal Welfare Action Plan 2016

Animal welfare matters. Now you can have your say on Victoria’s Animal Welfare Action Plan 2016.

The Victorian Government is developing a five-year action plan — Improving the Welfare of Animals in Victoria. The Action Plan will build on Victoria’s existing strong reputation for animal welfare and identify the future direction for animal welfare in this State.

Animal welfare is a shared responsibility and we can improve the welfare of animals in Victoria by using a collaborative approach. A first for Victoria, the Action Plan will be the first of its kind for Victoria. It proposes priority actions for the next five years. To facilitate discussion a Draft Action Plan has been developed and is now open for consultation.

Animal welfare is a high priority for the Victorian Government who have embarked on a number of animal welfare reforms, including the phasing out of puppy farms. The Draft Action Plan has been developed to build on this work.
