Spoil your pets on Valentine’s Day

It’s time to spoil your pets on Valentines’ Day! We can’t imagine life without our pets. They’re always happy to see us and ready with open hearts to love us.

Pets can ease loneliness, reduce stress, promote social interaction, encourage exercise and playfulness, and provide unconditional love and affection.

Research has shown that pets have many health benefits. Looking into your dog’s big happy eyes or holding your sleeping cat on your lap may actually contribute to lowering your blood pressure and decreasing anxiety according to the Australian Veterinary Association.

6 ways to spoil your pets on Valentine’s Day

  1. If you haven’t got around to doing it yet, now’s a good time to get your pet microchipped. It will ensure they can be easily identified if they get lost or separated and always come home to you.
  2. A Valentine’s Day walk with your favourite pooch or a new frisbee or rubber ball.
  3. A bell for your cat’s collar – while they may not necessarily love it, it will certainly be better for warning off any wildlife and it’ll be easier to find them around the house.
  4. Buy your cat a new toy mouse and other toys they can run after and retrieve. This is a great exercise for indoor cats and means you can spend time playing together.
  5. Or you could consider booking a reward-based dog training session which is also something you can do together.
  6. Teach your dog or cat a new trick
